Ahh Steam sales, how I love and hate you. I could go on about how Steam is a hungry pet dog and my wallet is a meal the owner left on the table unattended. But the thing is people do that all the time and it’s a bit of a cliché at this point. So for all the people that have accepted that Valve will be violating their wallets this sale, how about I at least make it less harmful to your poor pockets.
Here’s some games I would recommend that are under $10 for the duration of the sale which will last until the 29th.
Electronic Super Joy ( $0.79)
Tricky platforming, innuendos and EDM…where can you go wrong? I really enjoyed my time with this game. It’s pretty short, but considering how difficult it is, you will be spending hours trying to get through it, that is, if you don’t quit. Also, goddamn that price is really low! You’d be doing yourself a disservice by not picking up this incredibly charming platformer.
While I don’t play this game much anymore, I do like to keep up with it to see what’s happening. Why, you ask? Because the developers are something admirable of a game company, that’s why. Frequent updates, free content and my god…they actually listen to their players. That is fucking rare in the gaming community! For a moba, this game has one of the friendliest player bases I have seen, and mobas tend to be a cesspool of toxic players. Awesomenauts is a joy to play because of it’s character and low learning curve. Pick it up for yourself and some friends, have a great time!
Hitman: Blood Money ($2.24)
The Hitman franchise holds a special place in the video game industry, and for good reason. Yes it is a stealth game, yes there are tons of those. But when you’re operating under Agent 47 you’re given many, many options; most modern stealths only offer you a limited amount of approaches. Blood Money was pretty ground breaking for it’s time and it still holds up incredibly well today.
Arcade style dog fighting action combined with endless quests. Luftrausers is small game that can last you hours with it’s engaging plane customization options and thrilling bullet-hell gameplay. Visual design is fitting for the theme and so is the music. This is well worth the price being offered right now.
Saints Row IV: Game of the Century Edition ($4.99)
Definitely the most outrageous of the series, Saints Row IV capitalizes on it’s over-the-top action and hilarity. It’s great for a laugh an great for some mindless fun. Also, it has recently received Steam Workshop support which is always a plus.
Dishonored: Definitive Edition ($9.99)
Dishonored is a modern masterpiece. Set in a dystopian future, you play as Corvo Attano, a man falsely accused of assassinating the empress. Determined to clear his name, Corvo will embark on quest filled with dastardly deception malevolent murder. The definitive edition includes all the DLC which is incredible and adds much to the universe and lore, but if you don’t want all that, the base game is only $3.29
Portal 2 ($3.99)
You have a steam account and you don’t have Portal 2? Reevaluate your life choices please.
South Park: The Stick of Truth ($7.49)
This one may not be for everyone, but if you aren’t a pansy that’s offended easily, you will love this shit out of this game. The Stick of Truth plays as an open world RPG that use the same style of tun based combat that the Super Mario RPG uses. South Park finally managed to make a successful video game adaptation of a TV show and I applaud that. Worth every penny.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger ($7.49)
This game deserves much more praise than it gets. It fits into the market of cheaper spin off games such as Far Cry: Blood Dragon and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell. Games like this are usually priced pretty cheaply and take a less serious tone than their larger counterparts. Gunslinger is no exception as it is filled with witty humor, but it also masters arcade shooter gameplay.
Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited ($9.89)
I’ll end this list with a bang for your buck deal. Elder Scrolls Online is perfect for anyone who is weary of whether on not they would enjoy an MMO. It’s easy to pick up and is a pay once, play forever game so you don’t have to worry about getting enough playtime in to justify a monthly payment. At this low of a price, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try out an MMO for the first time or is looking for a less expensive way to go about their daily questing and grinding rituals.
Edit: Added links because I am not a smart person and forgot them the first time around, sorry about that!
Edit: The Steam Autumn Sale has concluded.
